Beatrix Speaks

("Ready to Go")

We were playing with the helmets and the girls said "Ready to Go!". I couldn't think of a better picture to share.

I wanted to make note that today we are saddened by the tragic death of momma's dearest friend and one of Nugget's avid readers. Lacey loved looking through the pictures and Bea updates periodically. She is very missed.
Please drink responsibly and do not drink and drive.

Beatrix Speaks!!

Baby it's cold outside.....
So jackets are a common requirement to leave the house, she just walked up with her new hooded jacket and handed it to me a uttered the sweetest sounding "jacket" I have ever heard.

Beatrix Speaks!

She loves to say.... "Purple".
It's the only color she cares to say, so I assume it's her favorite color like mama.

(UPDATE: Purple is Daddy's favorite, too)

Daddy- Daughter Date

(off to the show)

This morning Christian took Beatrix to Children's Day at the Park, to see The Biscuit Brothers.

After enjoying the show they shared a stroll under the bridge and on the river bank - Lemonade Trail.
Beatrix bought daddy a lemonade with her very own money from the purse she carried the entire time... all by her self.

Determined, as always, she wanted to meet The B.B.'s and bypassed the long line to the front, waved, and then said"hi"! (her mother's child)

I think they had a good time, it's sweet they were able to have this one on one time together. This was the last event of the summer like this and I hope to go to more next summer.

Seventeen Months

The Nugget is 17 mos. and is finally saying "boob"! It's been her favorite thing since taking a breath, and until now has never asked for it by name. It's the sweetest sounding "boob" I have ever heard, too.
I would have thought "boob" would have been up there on this list of firsts... "uh-oh", "help", even full sentences came first.
I guess what's the point when we had a nonverbal agreement that she can have "boob" whenever she desires.
I must admit hearing her little sweet voice coo "boob" has me excited about nursing, again.

Viva la BOOB!

** I just wanted to update, it is more of a little "boop" than "boob"... and now that she knows how to say it, she is wanting it all of the time. "boop, boop, boop"***

I am beginning to see the light...

at the end of the diapering tunnel.

I wash a couple of diapers (apprx. half a pail) weekly. Beatrix has a couple of accidents during the days and is wearing a diaper at night for sleeping. She will even initiate her own use of the small potty, and then come get me to show her awesome achievement.
Irina, too, is using the potty on her own initiation and having fewer accidents. They are both taking their pants off when the pottying urge comes to them.
It's very exciting for me to think that within a few months I may not have dirty diapers to change and wash on a daily basis.

As you can see we have been quite busy since my previous post...
We celebrated Beatrix's first birthday with family and pizza on St Valentine's Day. A week later we moved to our new house only a block away from the house Beatrix was born in. The neighborhood is great and the neighbor's have been welcoming. We went straight to work planting a kitchen garden in the big backyard as soon as we moved in. Easter brought us 4 chicks and they are living in their new house built by Christian from left over scraps from our neighbor's sculpture the Cathedral of Junk.
Beatrix enjoys the new yard and loves her chickens. She will make the ASL sign and say something that sounds a lot like chicken along with a "bok bok".

Happy New Year!

I can't believe the invitations for Beatrix's first birthday party went out today. The year has gone by at the speed of light....
We had a great holiday season with a lot of family.
Thanksgiving we spent the afternoon with Nana, Aunt Lisa and the cousins in Glen Rose, TX. It was a pleasant road trip on a beautiful day.
Christmas was a non-stop family, food and gifts. Santa visited grammy's house and left a load for the little one.
We rang in the New Year with Nana over a pot of black eye peas and cabbage.
The Bea thoroughly enjoyed herself!

She has been completely mobile for about a month now. Walking, running, twirling, and now climbing. She is really picking up her signs, and can sign about 5 signs give or take.
We had a rough patch with the potty for the last five months. She had been putting her focus on getting up and moving; but, now that she has conquered that, she has taken interest in her potty. She has even sat on it and did a poop on her own!

A Half Birthday!

Six months! It is really true - time does fly. Beatrix is 6 mos old and we couldn't be happier with her progress. She is such a sweet girl and very adventurous. She likes to do this crawl wiggle around the house after momma.

We started her on solid foods last week and she loves it - she has always showed interest in food - so far she has tried mashed bananas in breast milk; organic apple sauce (not crazy about); organic carrots, organic peas, and organic sweet corn pureed in breast milk; organic brown rice baby cereal (today).

Progress: signed 'dog' and can stand up from sitting on potty

Strong and healthy!
Beatrix is crawling and she is crawling fast. She can climb Mt Mommy with ease.
She loves to play with her best friend Irina (13mos) and will mimic her as much as humanly possible at this point.
Mommy found a new furbaby and he's turned out to really like the baby and vice versa, so I guess he is staying.

Shame on Mommy!

I am really slacking on the posts and I am sorry. Tuesday B turned five months and daddy turned 35 years! She weighed in at 15lbs and 25". Pictures to follow... I SWEAR!

I wanted to post this picture to give everyone a frame of reference to how big Beatrix is now; and, it is also a great demonstration of how much muscle control she has gained.
She has sat up alone for over a minute this week, rolled over to check something out on the floor and rolled back over to go about her business. We are amazed by her progress everyday.

New favorite toys:
Octopus, hands, and mouth.

Ten Weeks

reaching out to pet her dog

Ten weeks ago tonight I was in active labor... tonight, I am hanging out with the kiddo, playing and cooing and TOUCHING toys and doggies. What a cool thing.

We had our 2 month exam yesterday and the Doc said Beatrix was doing things at a 4 mo level. She referred to my milk as supermilk (hehe)! Trixie is the coolest thing I have ever grown.
